Once I post my Dream Diaries on my website you will see how wacky and creative my mind is! But often the dreams tie in to things I’ve been watching, reading, or learning in daily interactions with others.

What’s really cool is that I actually DREAM a lot of my songs. I have between 5-10 songs that I know have come from dreams. Attached is one I just finished last week, called “God's Rainbows”. Initially the title was going to be "This Life" (actually went through a few titles in the process of writing it) but I felt that the song was not so much about 'life' but about the rainbows that you see after a storm, compared looking for the good or the light in life that helps you through hard times. I dreamt that I was in a concert watching Chantal Kreviazuk and the chorus of this song was what she sang. It’s similar to her song “In This Life” – but not!! It has the same feel and inspiring message – I guess that’s why I dreamt it and it came out this way. The whole second half of the chorus is exactly as I dreamt it, melody and all. I didn’t get all the words for the first half, but I found them in my waking periods!

I always say writing a song is like a puzzle – the pieces are there, you just have to find them. I think it’s pretty cool that my subconscious mind finds them!

Hope you enjoy the lyrics. It’s a gospel-ly song, with “oooh”ing background vocals & all. It turned out quite nice! And it will be on my RPM album which will be done in a day! (see previous post). And freely downloadable!

Sharona

"God's Rainbows"

Tonight you fall
Like water it pulls you down
Tonight you beg for mercy

Tonight you feel
The darkness it breeds the pain
But you will rise above
I know you’re gonna rise above
Yeah you’re gonna rise above

It’s not tonight
But one of these days you’re gonna be flying so high
You’re the light in your sky
You’re not alright
But you’re gonna find all of God’s rainbows
To help you get through this life

Just wait and you’ll see
The colours succeed the storm
When they come
You’ll know the light is the cure
And you will see the light
Yeah you’re gonna see the light
I know you’re gonna see the light

And though all you can see is the flood
Its waters will not overcome
The promise is from God
He made us the rainbow

Copyright © 2009 by Sharona Clarke. I'm gonna do it. Yessiree. I'm gonna record an album in 28 days!!!

28 days, you say??!? How on earth can you possibly record and album in 28 days when it took you 3 years and 10 months to record your first one??? ARE YOU CRAZY?!?!?

Well, the thing is - I'm on the RIGHT TRACK now!! :) I've got the studio setup now, I've got the skills, the knowledge, the drive to do anything I want. Because now it's possible. A wise man keeps reminding me, "If you think it's impossible - it isn't."

http://www.rpmchallenge.com/

So....it's not exactly going to be my "official" sophomore release. The songs slated for that album have been ready for over 2 years now, but they are special songs - they will be done perfectly and properly in a good studio with time and energy and special care. (It just won't take me 3 years - maybe a few months!) This little month-long album will be a side project. It will be one of two things (haven't 100% decided yet). #1: a collection of piano/vocal songs that I've had since or before On the Right Track, and maybe I'll whip up a bunch of new songs. OR #2: a collection of electronic/electro pop/techno that I've had sitting on Roland KR375 floppy discs for 10 years. 10 YEARS!??! Yeah, imagine that. 'Bout time I did something with them hey? I'll be finishing them, rerecording all parts, using modern sounds and making them fresh & new. That's something I've wanted to do as a side project anyway, so I might as well get it done!

Strongly leaning towards option #2. But seeing it's now Day 2 of the Challenge (after a night's sleep), I am going to decide super soon! I've been spending Day 1 preparing my computer for a barrage of new musak. A day later, 14 gigs free on my Cubase music drive. That's a considerable jump from less than 3, if I do say so. I feel quite accomplished already.

So now, off to bed. Looking forward to day 2, and finalizing the maintenance and decision-making processes. Then it's getting to the REAL MEAT of the deal.

Ahhhh MUSIC.

Sharona

Welcome

Welcome to my new blog! Not that it's really new.... apparently I've been on Blogger since 2007! Ah well, maybe I'll find some things to write about from now on.

I guess mainly I'll just keep you all in the loop about the goings-on of my musical life, and whatever else I feel like spewing as I go through life. Right now I'm in a bit of a challenge, but then again, when is life NOT challenging? Keep a positive attitude, and always LEARN! Life's challenges are put in front of you in order to keep you moving.

A wise man told me: "Don't wish life were easier - wish YOU were better!!"

How will you face today's challenges?
